By harnessing the healing properties of herbs and the soothing effect of continuous liquid flow, Kashayadhara aims to restore balance and harmony within the body.

About Kashayadhara

Kashayadhara is a traditional therapeutic technique rooted in Ayurveda, the ancient holistic healthcare system. This practice involves the gentle streaming of specialized herbal infusions or medicinal fluids over the body. By utilizing the healing properties of carefully selected herbs and the continuous flow of these liquids, Kashayadhara aims to facilitate detoxification, promote relaxation, and foster a harmonious balance between the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of well-being.

The term “Kashayam” means “decoction,” while “dhara” translates to “continuous pouring.” This treatment can be applied to the entire body or specific areas, with the herbal decoction chosen based on individual health conditions. Depending on the herbs used, Kashayadhara can effectively address various issues, including skin diseases like eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis, as well as neurological disorders, muscle pain, and inflammation.

Procedure of Kashayadhara

During Kashayadhara, the decoction is continuously poured over the body with a precise rhythm, height, and temperature. As the herbal infusion flows, it is also gently massaged into the skin, enhancing its therapeutic effects. This treatment can be focused on a specific area or applied to the entire body, depending on individual needs.

The procedure involves:

  • POOORVAKARMA

A thorough examination of the patient’s prakruthi (constitution) and vikruthi (imbalance) is essential to determine the appropriate quantity of kashayam needed for the treatment.

  • PRADHANA KARMA

  • The kashayadhara begins with a padapooja, followed by a gentle oil massage.
  • The patient lies in a supine position while lukewarm kashayam is poured from a specific height in a rhythmic manner by two trained therapists.
  • Throughout the procedure, gentle massage accompanies the pouring of the kashayam.
  • This therapy induces mild perspiration, providing a deeply relaxing experience for the patient.

  • PASHCHAT KARAMA

  • It is recommended to take rest after the treatment, followed by a hot water bath.
  • Hair should be washed with medicated water for optimal benefits.
